Excellent hotel. Does everything you need if you just in require somewhere lovely to stay during your trip. Staff at the reception desk speak English and are very helpful. The view from any floor gives you a perfect eyeshot of the Skytree (providing your room is on the side of it of course!) and it looks beautiful at night. Access to Ryogoku station is literally just around the corner which is extremely convenient.

Dai Ichi Hotel is right next door to Ryogoku metro station. It is super convenient if you use metro. There are not a lot of shops and restaurants around this area. You have to to to Asakusa for the thrills. Our room is on 15th floor and facing SkyTree. It is very quiet at night and I like the room size too. There are shampoo, conditioner and slippers in the room. Tea, shaver etc are in the lobby. I like this hotel for its location.

We spent 4 extremely comfortable nights in this hotel. With a fridge, kettle and numerous toiletries as well as pyjamas and daily water provided, we could not ask for more. On the 25th floor we had wonderful views over the Sumida River, along which we walked to Asakusa. The location is excellent . Just far enough away from the biz of downtown Tokyo ,Rygoku station is 8 minutes walk although the subway acces is adjacent to the Hotel. Our only disappointment was breakfast. Fortunately we had not booked with breakfast but intended paying on a daily basis.However, as a western breakfast, it was sadly lacking and obviously catered to Japanese tastes. What was on offer, such as scrambled egg was uncovered so was cold. We didn't go back for a second day. Other than that, with the beautifully comfortable beds in a spotless room, we would not hesitate to return.

Excellent location with the subway entrance next door. Spacious, well equipped rooms. Fantastic views of Tokyo and within 20 mins walk of livelier parts. Great for the Sky Tree, Sumo museum and centre and Tokyo Dome. Very enjoyable.

i was super stressed out as i saw a lot of crappy reviews for this hotel so frankly i wasn't expecting much. "ac issues, old, dirty" - the list goes on. HOWEVER i was pleasantly surprised by my stay here. the room was extremely spacious -- we did book a larger room whereas our friend had a much cozier twin room with a fabulous view, it really depends on what you book. with regards to cleanliness, we faced no issues. bed linen, towels and pajamas provided were all clean, and room cleaning was done immaculately each day. with regards to ac, we were initially upset as the room wasn't getting colder. turns out it wasn't automatic and we simply didn't click the switchboard by our bedside, where you could adjust lighting, ac, radio etc. with regards to dated design, this hotel definitely has an old school aesthetic, so that part is true. if that isn't your vibe, don't book it. pictures online are exactly what they appear to be irl. this hotel is in the sumo district, so they do serve a mixture of (weak) continental breakfast as well as japanese breakfast, including chankonabe, which is a hearty stew eaten by sumo wrestlers. its very tasty and unique -- must try. location wise it's fabulous honestly -- the food street by Ryogoku station is just a 6 min walk away, its so near Akihabara and the Tsukiji fish market by subway as well, but in a nice quiet neighborhood. you are also sureounded by combinis (convenience stores). unfortunately this hotel doesn't provide laundry services, but there are plenty of laundromats in the area.
